Begun in 1906, opened for use in 1915, and interior decorations were added until 1965. Saint Cloud granite was used for the exterior walls and white American travertine from Mankato was chosen for the interior walls. The cathedral seats 3000 in the nave. Today the Cathedral is one of the most notable Classical Renaissance structures on the North American ontinent.

Built in 1906 the former Federal Courts Building was designed by Willowby J. Edbrooke in the Neo-Romanesque style. Now home to many local arts and non-profit organizations, the spacious cortile is also used for public events and exhibits.
