Regular readers will recall that when my wife Eberle was away for 10 days in August I made use of the time by recording a dozen tracks of music. I spent quite a bit of time mixing & mastering them, but for various reasons (including some pernickety behavior by our cd-burner) haven’t put them on discs yet. However, I have used the sound files for a couple of slideshows—both the version of “Green, Green Rocky Road” I posted on Eberle’s birthday, & also the version of “Candy Man” I’m posting today.
There are two songs called “Candy Man” associated with old acoustic blues; one (sometimes called “Candy Man Blues”) is associated with Mississippi John Hurt, & is quite racy—a very fun song, but I’ve never really done that one. I do the more surreal “Candy Man” that was associated with Reverend Gary Davis. It’s really one of my favorites.
The pictures in the slideshow were taken at various performances from the past spring & summer—thanks to photographers Lorie & Tim Hohs, Heather U., Eberle, Linda Masters & Jay Atchison! I’m thinking the performing season is probably winding down as the colder weather comes on, so this is a nice retrospective for me—hope you enjoy it, too!
