Smashing Pumpkins Sound with Electro Harmonix Pedals
Here’s an easy way to get a sound reminiscent of the Smashing Pumpkins’ Siamese Dream album. The effect chain consists of a Little Big Muff and Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai. The Little Big Muff produces the harmonic grind while the Stereo Memory Man in the modulation mode produces a doubling and thickening of the sound. The combination of these two effects produces a thick wall of sound using only one guitar. See the links below to get a hold of these sweet pedals!

Stairway to a Heavenly Allstar Band
Check out Mary J Blige, Steve Vai, Orianthi, Randy Jackson and Travis Barker playing one of the all time great rock songs 'Stairway To Heaven'.
What's cool is how they blend the behind the scenes shots and interviews in with the song. A great classic done justice without being to safe or vearing to far from the original.

John Farham - Gone Metal!
Ok first up Blind Guardian have hit a home run with this cover! Absolute gold and very unexpected. Synched to perfection I laughed my ass off all the way through.
My first ever cassette was John Farnham's 'Whispering Jack' album, so it make this all the more entertaining.
For any international readers unfamiliar - the song is 24 years old, originally by Australian music icon John Farnham. You can hear the original song HERE.

Weird Faces Make You Play Better
Im not sure if its compulsory that you have to pull this facial expression when tapping classical music on a double neck guitar but this guy sure seems to think it is :)
Either way, some great playing. Both impressive and amusing!

TV Show Medley From Hell
I always appreciate a cover with a twist and even more so when its a medley.
Freddie has done a great job putting this mammoth medley together, no stops, smooth transitions and awesome vocal harmonies to top it all off.
Oh and lets not forget, some great tv themes!

10 year old plays Vai's 'For The Love Of God'
It's been a while since Ive featured a 'prodigy child' guitarist on the blog and I think 10 year old girl Haruka kageyama of Japan is a is a good excuse for such a post. Covering Steve Vai's For The Love Of God is no mean feat and she does a great job of it.

'Ghost Busters' Gone Rock
I thought I'd continue the metal spin on cool movie/tv themes from last post, this one is quite a laugh! Not to say its bad, its actually really good (unlike many of the others out there.)
Its not so much a metal cover as a 80's / hard rock / shred / funk version! Enjoy :)
P.S. Listen to the end, its got a funny ending.

Metal guitar Macgyer cover!
Im a Macgyer fan from way back so when I saw the title of this video I was very edgy... I'd hate to see someone slaughter such a great theme. 'It could be great, or it could be a travesty', nervously I hit play... Im glad to say folks 'we have a winner'. Great cover!

One Man Electric Guitar Orchestra
For many rockers their only chance for crossover into appreciating classical is through neo classical shred guitar like Yngwie Malmsteen. Paul is one of the few electric guitar players that plays classical songs true to their original form without them sounding out of place on the electric guitar.
There is just some thing about electric guitar and classical that doesnt go very well together normally, hence the fact you normally hear it given a metal or shred treatment.
Maybe what differentiates Paul is that instead of arranging string lines on other instruments or cutting away all but the main melody is he plays all the instruments lines on the guitar, creating a guitar impression of an 'electric guitar orchestra' of sorts. Whatever you want to call it, he has a great take on playing classical on electric guitar. Enjoy and mabe try your own hand at some classical on electric guitar.
